- History
-
Crowes Curtains first opened our showroom in Fyshwick back in 1977, occupying approximately 1/4 of our current location on Lyell and Barrier Streets. As Canberra continued to grow during the 80’s and 90’s so did we, with our showroom expanding to its current location in order to make room for our manufacturing workroom and fabric storage areas.
Since we opened our doors we have improved the interior of homes in every suburb in the Canberra region, and our curtains, blinds and window dressings adorn any number of Canberra landmarks including the AIS Indoor Arena, numerous embassies & consulates, restaurants, the ANU, UC and ADFA colleges and many more.
In 2011 we completed our latest showroom refurbishment, adding a new dedicated blinds showroom and updating our curtain fabric displays with the latest innovative products from the leading fabric suppliers.
Crowes Curtains is still going strong through our 4th decade of serving the Canberra community, and we are still proud to employ local people from the Canberra and Queanbeyan areas, as well as continuing to support the local suppliers and associated businesses who have grown up with us.
- How We Quote
-
When we first started quoting for curtains back in 1977, the process was pretty simple - write everything up on paper, make copies in triplicate and file away when done.Thankfully technology has allowed us to streamline our quotations process significantly, making it easier for both our staff and our customers to create and retrieve quotations.
Typically a quote begins when we come out to your home or business to measure the windows. Although most homes are built to common standards in terms of window and architrave sizes, variations between builders and changes over time mean we are always careful to ensure we allow for each individual window in your home.
Once back at the office we enter those measurement details into our quotation system. Our computer systems have been custom designed from the ground up to work with our sales, workroom and installation teams, ensuring a seamless transition from quote to production and delivery.
Once we’ve completed the quotation, we will send you a copy of the quote via email, post or fax, and follow up with a phone call to see if we need to make any changes or updates to the quote.
Whether you accept the quote or not, the measurements and the quote itself remain on our system in perpetuity, allowing you to come back to your quote at any time in the future, or to review a previous quote no matter how old in order to match fabrics or colours for a new job.
Of course all this happens behind the scenes, but we thought we’d share how excited we all are that there’s no longer a need to write things out in triplicate!
